Ajas shuts to remember five slain civilians on their anniversary | KNO

Srinagar, February 01 (KNO): To mark the 27th anniversary of five civilians killed allegedly by Border Security Forces (BSF) on 1st February, a complete shutdown was observed in Ajas area of Bandipora District here in north Kashmir on Friday. All the shops and other business establishments remained closed in the area while as a thin traffic was seen plying on roads throughout the day. Reportedly, five civilians who were killed on the day include Abdul Rasheed Ganie (Driver), Mohammad Maqbool Rather (Student), Abdul Rahim Rather and Mohammad Sultan Lone (Labourers) and Wali Rehman Khan (Employee). Even after the 27 years, justice still eludes to the families of victims who claimed that not even a single BSF man was booked by the authorities. Families of the victims decried delay in justice even after elapsing 27 years, saying that the accused BSF troopers are yet to be punished rather roaming freely.(KNO)
